The Collection was started by the now late Berry Savory and his son Michael after the success of another small museum. East Ruston Garden Centre~The Old Vicarage lies one and a half miles from the North Sea in an exposed prairie landscape containing large arable fields. Many of the wildlife habitats for birds and mammals have long been swept away. Thursford Collection~Steam power on the land, the roads, and eventually on the fairground did not have a very long life. From the middle of the last century until the First World War it enjoyed its heyday, developing superlative engineering skills and techniques which are still admired today. But by the 1920s, steam was faltering before the challenge of diesel and petrol engines. By the 1940s steam vehicles were heading in their thousands to scrap yards.~~~593~741~~

Blickling Hall~Built in the early 17th century, Blickling is one of England's great Jacobean houses. The spectacular Long Gallery now houses one of the finest private collections of rare books in England. Also on display are fine Mortlake tapestries depicting the stories of Abraham, intricate plasterwork ceilings and a fine collection of furniture and paintings from various periods. Recently the 19th-century Hungerford Pollen painted ceiling was exposed and is undergoing conservation.~~~593~755~~
